Thursday evening Crystal

collapse post

It has been quite a busy week.  Mom is slowly recovering from her eye surgery.  She is still unable to see out of her eye, but that is to be expected for a while.  The swelling is gone now and she's able to get around with no problem.  The past couple of days though she started feeling bad due to a sinus infection.  She started some antibiotics today hoping to get it under control before it causes any issues with her eye.   Our brother Jody went in for a heart catheterization last Friday.  The techs got him prepared for the procedure, but right before he was to have it done the doctor canceled it because he had an emergency.  So that was upsetting.  Our mom got it rescheduled  for yesterday early morning.  There were no blockages, but there is obviously something wrong with his heart.  We really don't know what is causing the horrible chest pain and coughing he is having.  He has an follow up appointment on Monday with the doctor.  So please pray they will figure out what is causing him to feel this way.

Candice and I have a concert at Community Church of Buckeye on Sunday morning.  We've sang there once before a couple of years ago.  This week we've been preparing some songs for that.   We both have been fighting allergies and sinus as well.  We're really praying that we don't get sick during this change of season.  Last year around this time Candice came down with a horrible viral infection and passed it to me.  Hopefully that will not happen this year as we have a few bookings in October that we want to be well for.

We had lunch with our brother Sanjay yesterday at Johnny Rockets.  It's a fun little 60's diner.  It was our first time having lunch with him, and we had a really great time.  We've really just been taking it easy this week.  We've helped mom with a few tasks around the house and we have been exercising regularly.  Not only does the exercising help our lungs, but we feel a lot healthier doing it.

Hope everyone is doing well.  Thank you again for your prayers and support.

Mom’s eye surgery Candice

collapse post

Thank you all for your prayers.  Mom had her eye surgery yesterday.  She had a cataract removed and a cornea transplant and Lens implant on her right eye.  The surgery went very well with no complications.  She came home yesterday evening with a patch over her eye.  The doctor told her she has to stay flat on her back when she is sleeping.  That has been the most difficult thing for her to do.  I know she had a bit of a rough night last night and went back in forth between her bed and the chair to get comfortable.  Dad took her to her appointment this morning to see the doctor again and have the patch removed.  He told mom everything looks good.  Her eye is very swollen today, but it'll probably be that way for a while.  She says she can't see anything out of it.  We are thankful she is doing well and we continue to pray she'll recover quickly from the surgery.  We have a very busy medical week.  On Friday our brother Jody goes for a heart catheterization.  He has been having chest pain and shortness of breath for the past few weeks.  He just hasn't felt very good at all.  A couple of weeks ago he went for a stress test and his results showed something wrong with his heart.  So hopefully Friday's test will give us a better understanding of what is causing him to be so miserable.  If you could keep him in your prayers as well we would be so grateful.

Crystal and I have a couple of bookings coming up.  We have a concert a week from Sunday at a church in Buckeye.  We're also singing at the Logos Mission (born again Eastern Indian church) 8th anniversary the first weekend in October.  So we have been working on a new song to sing there.  We also have a couple of other bookings scheduled in October as well.  We're looking forward to ministering in these places and thank the Lord that he continues to open doors for our ministry.

This past weekend was so much fun.  Our niece Danielle, Austin and our sister Rhonda came down from Cottonwood Thursday evening.  Austin just turned five months on Sunday.  He's getting so big and becoming more vocal every time we see him.  It's amazing how fast babies grow.  We had a relaxing and enjoyable visit.  Rhonda brought a cow racing wii game.  It was too funny.  She left it here for us to play and we still haven't become pros at it yet.  We had a get together with our friends Andy and Joanne on Saturday evening.  We don't get to see them very often as they both are busy.  We had a wonderful dinner and a great time playing Mario Kart.  It was Crystal, Danielle, Rhonda and I against each other.  Crystal and I are not very cordinated when it comes to these racing games.   We're always getting off the track and running into the walls.  I think i've finally got the hang of it this time. at least I didn't go backwards. HA!!  Danielle won both games.  We're thankful for our time with Danielle and Rhonda, they are both such an encouragement to us.

International Twins Association 74th Annual Convention Candice

collapse post

This weekend was the International Twins Association's 74th Annual Convention at the Missions Palms Hotel.  Our parents and Jody also attended the convention with us on Sunday.  We arrived at the hotel a little after seven-thirty in the morning for dad, mom and Jody to set up the sound for us.  While they were setting up the sound we had the opportunity to meet Lynn and Lori, who invited us to sing at Gospel hour.  Guess What, they are TWINS!! This being our first twins convention it was so awesome to see so many twins at one time all together.  I believe they said there were 58 sets of twins registered plus a set of triplets.  They were such neat and funny men.  As dad was visiting with one of them, he found out that they are from his hometown Edmond, Oklahoma.  There were also two sets of twins from Canada.  We enjoyed bringing them Gospel hour and giving our testimony.  We were so moved by the Candle light service for the twins who had passed away.  There were several that came forward with stories about their twin.  Each, lit a candle in honor of the twin they lost.  I can't even begin to imagine the pain I would feel if I lost Crystal.  We, being twins know the unique bond with each other and we could truly understand the pain of the surviving twins.  We pray the Lord will comfort them and give them strength to go on.  After the service there was a business meeting.  The convention travels to different locations each year.  Last year it was held in Asheville, NC.  Next year it will be in San Antonio, TX and they've decided on Denver, CO for 2010.  We just recently found out the convention was held here in Phoenix twelve years ago.  We met quite a few twins who live here locally.  After the meeting the five of us headed over to the restaurant for a wonderful buffet lunch.  Thank you Peggy Harper for your special treat, we greatly appreciate it!!  After lunch we went out to the court yard for group pictures in the HOT Arizona sun.  We all thought we were going to melt, it was miserably warm.  Please check out the pics below!!  Have you ever seen so many twins together?  After the pictures were taken, we went back inside for the twin judging contest.  You won't believe it!!  We won FIRST PLACE in our age category for the most identical.  Because…..we were the only ones in our age category :) HAHA!! Make sure you check out the slide show that our dad put together and see all the look a like twins, go to top of Web Site put the pointer on Photos then click on International Twin Convention.  We had a great time trying to guess which set of twins would come in first or second place.  Some of the twins were so identical the judges had a hard time deciding.  The oldest female twins who attended the convention were 87 years old.  They were so cute!!  The oldest male twins were 78 years old.  So amazing!!  A couple of the the local news stations were there filming.  Channel 12 did a small story on the Sunday evening news about the convention.  One thing everyone agreed on was that this was one place we didn't have to answer the number one question that twins are always asked, "Are You Guys Twins"?  Crystal and I had such a wonderful time on Sunday.  We are so thankful that the Lord gave us an opportunity to be a part of something so special.  This was our first twins convention, and we pray it won't be our last.  It was definitely an experience we will remember for the rest of our lives.  Check out their website, at the right of this post under Links click on International Twins Association's link.
